6 Inch Dreams

I recently helped some friends of mine choreograph songs for their annual Bey Day celebration. An hour of dance fitness dedicated to the Queen. Every year there are costumes, new songs, and really really old songs. Its great fun.

But in doing this, I listen to a LOT of Beyonce. A LOT.

Not that its a bad thing. Or that I don't do it on the regular (when did that phrase become part of my vocabulary???). But in listening to Lemonade on repeat I focused on one particular line from 6 Inch (feat. the Weeknd)

She too smart to crave material things

Think about that.

Really just let that sink in.

Too smart to crave material things. Because material things DON'T MATTER. Life isn't about the car you have or how big your house is. Its not about the labels you wear or the red bottom on your shoes (not that they aren't cute). So many people go broke trying to pretend that they're happy or have it all. Because they think its more important to have a Malibu address than to be able to eat.

What matters is being happy with yourself and your own life - without all the glitz. Having a job that your enjoy enough that its not about the money. Having friends that will be by your side no matter what toys you have or what you can do for them. Living a life you love.

Be smart.

Crave what matters.
